The Lahaina Junior Golf Association stands as one of the state’s top youth sports programs and certainly a positive force in advancing the welfare of the younger generation here on the West Side.

The local West Maui nonprofit that focuses on educating life skills through the game of golf was further enriched in receiving a generous donation of over $15,000 from Troon, manager of golf, club and hospitality at Kapalua and Kaanapali Golf, two of the world’s prestigious links venues.

Joel Navarro, president of Lahaina Junior Golf, stated, “Troon, through Kapalua Golf and Kaanapali Golf, has once again generously provided our community’s up and coming junior golfers with the incredible opportunity to enjoy some of the best courses in Hawaii and the nation. We are so grateful for the partnership and look forward to it continuing on in the coming years.”

This season alone, Troon has donated some 200 tee times for the junior golfers at the world-class Kapalua and Kaanapali resorts. The company has provided carts for LJGA tournament volunteers throughout the season, two clinics for Division Four golfers, and four paid work program internship opportunities for the junior golfers to experience the business side of the golf industry. Also provided were range balls at a discounted rate for LJGA.

Added Karl Reul, general manager of Kaanapali Golf Courses, “We remain 100 percent committed to supporting junior golf on Maui and especially the Lahaina Junior Golf Association. These kids are the future of our great game, and we want to continue to provide a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for them to grow their skills. We would like all of the families to know that Kaanapali Golf Courses intends to maintain and strengthen our solid and successful partnership that has been established over the years.”

Alex Nakajima, representing the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, stated, “We are pleased to support the Lahaina Junior Golf Association, excited to see their game grow and we hope to see them return as a champion to play in the Sentry Tournament of Champions one day.”

Lahaina Junior Golf Association is proudly celebrating its ten-year anniversary this year, having embedded into the West Maui golf community for the last decade.

This year’s LJGA shirts and hats are sponsored by Sentry Tournament of Champions and produced by Sunday Crew and King’s Screen Printing. They can be purchased as a shirt/hat combination at the organization website via info@lahainajuniorgolf.org, with all proceeds going to support of the junior golfers in-need with financial scholarships.
