Maui Students Get College Scholarships

October 2024 - Lahaina Junior Golf Association has awarded $2,000 scholarships three to outstanding Maui students: Jacelyn Yun who will study at Oregon State University, Amadeo Drechsel who will attend Utah State University and Arshaya Marshall who will be attending the University of Notre Dame. The scholarships recognize their exceptional academic achievements and dedication to golf.

“This is more than just a scholarship—it’s our way of ensuring that the doors to higher education remain open for Maui’s young golfers,” said Joel Navarro, Board Chair of the Lahaina Junior Golf Association. “Our relationship with these students doesn’t end once they leave high school. We are here to help them succeed at every stage of their journey.”

These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of donors, including funds raised during The Sentry—a prestigious event on the PGA Tour held annually at the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. The tournament serves as the PGA Tour's season opener, featuring only golfers who won an official event the previous year.
